Welcome Dr. Nate Shannon
I arrived back in Seoul last Friday evening. I’m glad to be back, but I’m ready for cooler weather! I’m also eager to begin our new church year. This year’s theme will be the Living Word. Hebrews 4:12 says, “For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and spirit, of joints and marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” Like last church year’s passage from Colossians 3:17, we will be learning this verse as we repeat it together during the benediction. At the same time, I will be emphasizing the importance of the Living Word during my series on Elijah. On the Sunday’s I preach at SIBC, I will remain at the church for a 1 PM discussion group based on questions at the end of each Elijah chapter. I hope you will attend this meeting as we encourage one another to hear and respond to God’s Living Word in our lives. Nursery will be provided.
That brings me to another important change as we enter this new church year. Dr. Nate Shannon is Professor of New Testament at Torch Trinity Graduate University. Nate is a U.S. citizen from the state of Pennsylvania. He is an EXCELLENT Bible teacher, and will be serving as an Associate Pastor of Preaching through December of this year. I look forward to the teaching role he will play at both SIBC in Seoul, as well as in our SIBC, Pyeongtaek church plant. Be sure an let him know how much you appreciate his solid teaching of God’s Word.
I’ll be back at SIBC, Seoul on September 2. The message that day will be entitled, “The Living Word.” Our text will be from Mark 4:1-8 where Jesus tells and explains the parable of the sower and the seed. Can’t wait to see you!
